As an official partner of the Rallye des Caprices, Girard-Perregaux presented two Laureato ladies’ watches to the winning team.
The 2017 Rallye des Caprices left the Parc des Eaux-Vives in Geneva on 19 September, returning three days later on Friday 22 September to the bucolic setting of the Bonmont Golf Club in Chéserex (Switzerland), in the hills overlooking Lake Geneva.
This competition is Switzerland’s first regular women’s classic car rally (for pre-1987 cars), marrying competitive driving on roads chosen for their scenic beauty, the fun of an all-girls’ outing, and comfortable overnight accommodation in Verbier, Crans-Montana and Gstaad. All the stopovers are in 5-star hotels with spa, giving the competitors the opportunity to relax in a luxurious atmosphere at the end of the afternoon, after a hard day’s driving. The drivers and their co-pilots, all aged between 23 and 63, spent four thoroughly enjoyable days terminating in a festive finale at the Bonmont golf course on Friday evening. The dozen or so cars entered in this year’s Rallye – Porsches, Lancias, Alfa Romeos, Minis and Lamborghinis – parked up in the courtyard.
Girard-Perregaux, which is hoping to strengthen its ties to the car world, as well as reaching out to women, was supporting the Rallye des Caprices for the third year running. Friday evening’s festivities centred around the prize-giving ceremony. After the award of the Elegance prize, and the Caprice prize, for the team that “struggled most” (in the words of Valérie Lepoutre, organiser of the Rallye and founder of Caprice Events) the first prize was presented to the team 1, 2, 3... Sol’elles.
Each member of the winning team was given a special edition of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato 34 mm, with diamond-set bezel, an engraved back and an elegant light blue “Rallye des Caprices” rubber strap. The Laureato 34 mm in its stylish steel case is the epitome of sporty elegance and versatility, making it a watch that can be worn anytime, anywhere.
