Newsletter Triple launch, double interview

Three major new launches, a couple of interviews and a report on counterfeiting.

This week starts with a major new launch from Louis Vuitton in Paris today. As Hamdi Chatti explained to me earlier this year when he presented the brand’s first Poinçon de Genève watch, Louis Vuitton were not in Basel this year and it was his aim to have less than a month between a new launch and the watches being available in store. We can thus be assured that the new gents’ collection presented in Paris today (which will be presented in detail on WorldTempus later this week) will be available for purchase just in time for the summer tourist season.

« Ce mois-ci, gagnez une montre Eterna pour dames »

As we prepare to follow all the happenings on the red carpet at this year’s Cannes film festival, we bring you an interview with Fawaz Gruosi of de Grisogono, which has just opened a brand new store in Dubai. He talks about the brand’s involvement with the glitz and glam at Cannes and the launch of a new high jewellery collection.

In an interview published on the home page today, Frédérique Constant CEO reveals that the aggressively priced perpetual calendar model the brand presented at Baselworld this year was a direct response to competition on price and he does not preclude reacting to TAG Heuer’s offensive in the tourbillon category with something else up his sleeve.

Later this week I also take a detailed look at the impact of counterfeiting on the Swiss watch industry. A recent report by the OECD claims that watches are the product category most susceptible to counterfeiting and Swiss Watch Industry Federation (FH) president Jean-Daniel Pasche explains the impact of counterfeiting on the consumer and what the FH is doing to combat it.

You can also be one of the first to see Montblanc’s new TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept watch on WorldTempus today – one day ahead of its presentation to the international media. Last but not least, our lips remain tightly sealed but look out for some big news from Vacheron Constantin on our homepage tomorrow.
