Launched 15 years ago, the Tambour collection has maintained the original shape of its case – based on the simple and powerful concept of a drum, a first in the watch industry – that makes it still one of the rare bezel-free watches. Louis Vuitton celebrates this anniversary by adding an extra chapter to this line (which remains) with a complete new collection, the Tambour Moon.
Don’t expect a moon phase, as its name stems from the profile of the case, which has switched from convex on the original collection to concave for the new model. This results in a broader opening, and a visual impression of being slimmer. While we are presenting the Tambour Moon GMT here, there are in fact 12 references that can be discovered in July in Louis Vuitton boutiques (and as of now on worldtempus.com) : for women, men, mixed, in four colors and sizes from 28 to 44mm, including a Fine Watchmaking model with an innovative design bearing the Hallmark of Geneva. This new highly contemporary profile and the pure, restrained design of the Tambour Moon are firmly propelling the collection onwards and upwards.
In parallel, Louis Vuitton is accompanying this launch in an innovative, practical and client-friendly manner, since customers get to choose from a range of one hundred interchangeable straps. Tools are unnecessary, since these new straps can be secured by means of a patented and invisible hook system linked to a flexible composite blade inserted inside – and all without a price increase. As the cherry on the cake, these straps can also be fitted on previous Tambour models !
