Heritage Tourbillon Double Peripheral Limited Edition - Carl F. Bucherer
An anniversary watch that heralds a brand-new collection.

Carl F. Bucherer have found the perfect way to round of their celebration of 130 years of history and at the same time look towards the future. The Heritage Tourbillon Double Peripheral Limited Edition pays fitting tribute to the brand’s roots and ushers in a new Heritage collection that is set to uphold the legacy of Carl F. Bucherer. The “double” in the name refers to two peripheral achievements that are unique to the Lucerne-based brand. The first is the peripheral winding rotor pioneered by the brand on its CFB A1000 calibre, which was the first mechanical watch movement to have such a bidirectional winding rotor working around the circumference of the movement rather than from its centre. The second is the peripheral support for the tourbillon carriage, which is hidden out of sight and achieved by the use of three ceramic ball bearings. This gives an unhindered view of the tourbillon from both the front and back of the case.

The main benefit of the peripheral rotor for this limited-edition watch is that it frees up the entire centre of the case back of the watch, leaving plenty of room for a beautiful hand-engraved cityscape of Carl F. Bucherer’s home town of Lucerne. The unobscured picture is a treat in itself, but a touch of unicity is added to each of the 88 limited editions in the form of a swan (a nod to the first Carl F. Bucherer store on the city’s Schwanenplatz, or “swan square”) that is found in a different position on every watch.

Gold has featured heavily in the Carl F. Bucherer brand image that was refreshed in time for the 130th anniversary and the theme is carried through with aplomb in this limited edition. Apart from the obvious 18-carat rose gold case, gold is also used for the background for the engraving (white gold) and 22-carat rose gold is used for the peripheral rotor. The warmth of the gold is also reflected in the sun-brushed silver dial, which has two subtle milled rings that give this limited edition a more vintage touch.

The tourbillon movement powering the limited-edition Heritage Tourbillon Double Peripheral Limited Edition is the CFB T3000 calibre presented at Baselworld earlier this year. In addition to Carl F. Bucherer’s unique interpretation on the “flying” tourbillon at 12 o’clock, this certified chronometer also uses amagnetic silicon for the pallets and escape wheel and offers a power reserve of 65 hours.
