Academia Small Second - DeWitt

DeWitt has chosen its Academia collection to house its new in-house standard automatic calibre.

Equipped with a new DeWitt DW5051 automatic movement produced at the brand's Meyrin Manufacture in Geneva, the Academia Small Second watch has a central hours and minutes indication, and is equipped with a small seconds display at 6 o'clock. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and features a variable-inertia balance and a 65-hour power reserve.
The calibre's bridges are decorated with both circular and bevelled Côtes de Genève patterns, and its circular-grained mainplate and all its finishes are hand-crafted. With a single-direction winding mechanism, the rotor is sandblasted in rhodium colour tone, with a black tungsten counterpoise. The "W" signature initial is engraved directly into the rotor in 18-carat rose gold.

The 42.5 mm diameter case shows a subtle redesigning of the famous imperial columns, DeWitt's distinctive signature. It is crafted in 18-carat rose gold and black rubber and is water-resistant to 30m.

The black lacquer dial has been produced in-house. Its upper part features a motif inspired by the Côtes de Genève pattern, while the lower part has a vertical satin finish, with both enhanced by 18-carat rose gold indexes.

The timepiece is fitted with an alligator wristband, equipped with a triple folding clasp buckle; the polished 18-carat rose gold cover bears the with “W” signature.

With its manufactured calibre, its high-quality DeWitt dial and its exclusively hand-crafted finishes, the new Academia Small Second watch can nobly defend its 100% in-house origins.
