CT60® Dual Time - Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany & Co. extends its CT60® collection with a selection of dual-time models.

The addition of a dual time model to the Tiffany CT60® collection was logical, given that Tiffany’s customers often lead busy lives and travel a lot. After all, Tiffany’s home market of the United States has six different time zones on its own. The CT60® Dual Time is a reminder that, while the watches may be crafted in Switzerland, there is a definite inspiration from the fast-paced life of New York in every piece.

Following the three-hand, annual calendar and chronograph models the new CT60® Dual Time adheres strictly to the design codes established by the CT60® collection and adds a second time zone indication in the same 40mm case diameter. The second time zone is indicated by a central blued-hand that is read around the circumference of the dial against a 24-hour scale that is subdivided into red numerals for the daylight hours and blue for night time. The date window found on the CT60® three-hand models is replaced by a subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock that shows the date by hand, while the central seconds hand with its red arrow-head tip remains as a signature element found across the CT60® collection. In fact, the CT60® Dual Time models seem to fit in so seamlessly with the rest of the collection that it is only on second glance that you notice that these watches have two pushers, just like the chronograph, even though they are not chronographs and their cases are the same size as the standard three-hand models.

These pushers offer an intuitive and unusual means of moving the local time (in other words the time indicated by the central hour and minute hands with SuperLuminova inserts) forwards or backwards in one-hour increments. The central GMT hand is therefore used for the reference, or home, time and thus keeps the same time. A separate date corrector hidden on the inside of the case can be used to rapidly correct the date if required.

Three different versions are available: two have a “white soleil” dial with golden Arabic numerals and a case in 18-carat red gold or stainless steel, plus a version with a sunbrushed blue dial, a stainless-steel case and matching stainless-steel bracelet. All are water resistant to 100 metres.

The CT60® Dual Time models are powered by a self-winding mechanical movement (calibre TCO.5959) that was developed exclusively for Tiffany & Co. by Dubois-Depraz, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 42-hour power reserve. It is visible behind a transparent sapphire crystal case back.
