Press release

Continuing its commitment to the flawless blending of High Watch Making and High Jewelry, Boucheron has come up with a new one-of-a-kind exceptional timepiece that combines the House's savoir-faire with an iconic movement. Called the Héra Tourbillon, this watch with its audacious mélange of technology and superior workmanship, gets its name from the Greek goddess who purportedly added the “eyes” to the peacock's tail.

At the heart of this timepiece beats one of the most iconic movements in the history of watch making, the instantly identifiable three gold Bridges Tourbillon designed by Girard-Perregaux. This stunning movement is energized by Boucheron's daring and delicate jeweled adornments. The mechanism itself is set with two different shades of green tourmalines along with diamonds to create the body of the peacock. A ring of round cut diamonds encircles the central movement to form a perch from which unfolds an intoxicating bracelet sculpted to mimic its graceful plumes.

Although the first collaboration between Boucheron and Girard-Perregaux only dates back to 2007, their mutual commitment to creating extraordinary objets d'art spans over a century. The now iconic three gold Bridges Tourbillon movement is a descendant of the caliber Constant Girard-Perregaux presented at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition. It garnered a gold medal for the master watchmaker the same year that Frédéric Boucheron was also an award winner in the jewelry competition. Today Boucheron is the only House for whom Girard-Perregaux has manufactured their three gold Bridges Tourbillon movement.

Before being embellished by Boucheron's renowned craftsmen, the mechanism itself has been completed to the highest of standards. The tourbillon alone, which only weighs 0.3 grams, has 72 different components that fit within a one centimeter diameter. It is completely hand decorated and assembled by Girard-Perregaux's skilled watchmakers.

The beauty of the watch mechanism is matched by the bejeweled surroundings created by Boucheron. The rich and textured white gold bracelet has been intricately carved to recreate the unique beauty of feathers that, as if in movement, fan out across the wrist. The precise placement of each of the stones, mixing over 35 carats of diamonds, Paraiba tourmalines and sapphires adds to the volume and roundness of this bejeweled bird. The ethereal elegance of the peacock's head is lifelike with its wise sapphire eyed gaze and its breastplate subtly puffing with pride to encase the watch's deep blue sapphire cabochon crown. The sumptuous caress of this exceptional watch bracelet has a magnetic power that is sure to cause more than one heart to flutter with desire.
