With the International Day of Happiness, Chopard expresses its inherent optimism more powerfully than ever

By choosing to celebrate a universal happiness that transcends cultural, linguistic, generational and social barriers, the Maison is reiterating its faith in humankind and its attachment to the little things that change everything, as conveyed in its "Little diamonds do great things!” mantra. On March 20th – the date established by the United Nations as the International Day of Happiness – Chopard is thus calling for a global chain of happiness. Symbolising its commitment around the world – from Paris to Tokyo, via London, New York, Milan and Hong Kong – armfuls of roses will bloom in its boutiques. Roses are also the inspiration behind the latest Happy Sport Rose de Caroline timepiece: a precious creation adorned with pink sapphires, rubies and the legendary dancing diamonds – Chopard’s enduring signature symbolising Joie de Vivre. As a means of contributing to a fairer and happier world, Chopard will donate part of the proceeds from the sale of Happy Diamonds collection jewellery between March 20th to 26th 2024 to child protection associations.

The power of a smile

Since the invention of Happy Diamonds, Chopard’s workshops have always ascribed a pacifying virtue to dancing diamonds: the smile induced by the dance of free-spinning diamonds is intended to elicit others. To mark the International Day of Happiness, Chopard is calling on everyone to form a veritable chain of happiness: a butterfly effect by means of which a smile or gesture towards others – and even to oneself – is multiplied worldwide.

A new timepiece conveys the optimistic spirit of this special Day: through the Happy Sport Rose de Caroline, Chopard’s Co-President recalls a moving anecdote from her life as Artistic Director, when her workshop manager made a bet with her on the future of the Happy Sport watch. Following the initial wager involving one rose for every watch sold, he ended up having to give Caroline Scheufele an entire rosebush – which she was able to admire in bloom for many years thereafter, a symbol of creative success!

Roses: emblems of enduring commitment

Caroline Scheufele has chosen roses to symbolise Chopard's commitment to promoting the International Day of Happiness. On March 20th, the Maison will be decked out in an array of roses: from boutiques to workshops, roses will distil their fresh fragrance and Joie de Vivre to activate the chain of happiness that Chopard is calling for. The petals’ shape recalls the contours of a heart – another powerful symbol of this family Maison that has always ensured it shares some of its success with those most deprived.

For several years now, Chopard has been taking part in programmes run by charities active in the field of child protection, such as fashion model Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund, since renamed All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response. The latter supports the reconstruction of schools in areas devastated by natural disasters, starting a virtuous circle enabling future generations to glimpse a better future thanks to these educational opportunities. The Maison is also involved with the Naked Heart Foundation launched in 2004 by Natalia Vodianova to help underprivileged children.

The Day of Happiness rekindles the desire to dream of a fairer world, which is why Chopard will supplement its support for these two associations with an additional donation from sales made in its boutiques on all its Happy Diamonds collection jewellery between March 20th and 26th 2024.
