Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix The results of the WorldTempus reader’s poll

WorldTempus asked its readers to pick their favourite watch in each of the 12 categories for this year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). Here are the results at the close of our poll.

With four of its brands emerging as our readers’ favourites, the Swatch Group continues to have the edge in this year’s Grand Prix. Although the views of our readers in no way affect the outcome of the jury’s decision, their votes confirm the dominance of the world’s biggest watchmaking group, which had watches from its brands selected as finalists in all but one of the twelve categories (the group is absent from the “Petite Aiguille” category).

But the popularity of Chaumet among our readers also suggests that the LVMH brand could yet steal some of the limelight when the trophies are handed out. WorldTempus readers expressed a clear preference for the Hortensia Tourbillon in the Ladies High-Mech category and the Attrape-Moi... Si tu m'aimes model in the Artistic Crafts category.

In the Men’s, Chronograph and Tourbillon categories, however, it is the smaller brands renowned for their high-end watchmaking that are the most popular among our readers. MB&F’s Legacy Machine 101 is the favourite choice in the Men’s category, while De Bethune’s sublime DB29 Maxichrono Tourbillon stands ahead of the field in the chronograph category. The fact that the Parallax Tourbillon by Grönefeld took such a commanding lead in the Tourbillon category, however, says as much about the brand’s efforts in motivating its social media community to vote as it does about the genuine popularity of this watch. The concerted lobbying by the brand also made the Tourbillon category the most popular among voters, since it accounted for 15% of all votes cast, double the average across all other categories.

In order for you to compare your choices with the most popular watches among our readers, as well as with the choice of the GPHG jury, here are the full results of our survey. The ultimate winners in each category will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva on 31 October, which will be streamed live on worldtempus.com.
