At the Venice International Film Festival’s closing ceremony, Jaeger-LeCoultre acknowledged the recipients of the Leono D’oro award for Best Film and the Copa Volpi awards for Best Actress and Actor by conferring them with a Reverso timepiece. These original pieces have been specially engraved with a lion, the symbol of Venice.
Leono d’Oro for Best Film
Alfonso Cuarón received the Leono d’Oro for Best Film with "Roma", a semi-biographical film inspired by Cuarón’s childhood in the early 1970s in Mexico City. "Roma" had its world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on 30 August 2018.
Copa Volpi for Best Actress
The Copa Volpi for Best Actress has been awarded to British actress Olivia Colman, in the role of Anne, Queen of Great Britain, in the film "The Favourite", directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
Copa Volpi for Best Actor
The American-Italian actor Willem Dafoe received the Copa Volpi for Best Actor in the role of Vincent Van Gogh, in "At Eternity's Gate". Directed by Julian Schnabel, Willem Dafoe is remarkable in the role of the post-impressionist Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh.
