Belles Montres in Paris

1 minute read
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie will travel to Paris to present its latest projects and propose initiations to watchmaking for visitors at the Belles Montres watch fair.
Press release

Now in its fourth year, Belles Montres introduces a wide audience to the world of prestige watches, traditionally reserved for connoisseurs and collectors. The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie joins this stance and gives members of the public and watch enthusiasts the opportunity to take part in workshops that will introduce them to the basic principles of mechanical watchmaking.

During these three-hour sessions, participants take apart and reassemble a simple mechanical movement under professional guidance. The Foundation will run two daily workshops on November 26th, 27th and 28th, from 10.30am to 1.30pm and from 3pm to 6pm. Enrolment and payment are online at hautehorlogerie.org and bellesmontres.fr.

In addition, the Foundation will illustrate and explain the Poinçon de Genève through a display of movements. The Poinçon de Genève is a guarantee of origin (mechanical movement that has been assembled and adjusted in the Canton of Geneva), craftsmanship, durability and outstanding savoir- faire. For more than a century, it has been a sign of prestige and excellence.

The Poinçon de Genève originated in 1886 as a law passed to protect Geneva's watchmaking against unscrupulous use of the Geneva name.

The FHH will also present its actions and projects in fulfilling its priority objectives, which are to inform both the public and professionals, train professionals in the watch industry, and assert its role as a think tank for the Fine Watch segment.
