Reaffirming its reputation for sports chronographs, Eberhard & Co. is introducing a new Contodat collection this year, inspired by its iconic models from the 1970s.

It also reaffirms its commitment to vintage motor racing by once again serving as the official timekeeper for two historic Italian car rallies.

The independent family brand, founded in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, has long been renowned for its sports chronographs, with its first being introduced as early as 1919. The name Contodat was trademarked by the brand in 1955 for bi-compax chronograph models with a date window at 6 o'clock, proving that this complication was already central to the company.

New Contodat Collection

The new collection thus revives this name and is inspired by a model from the 1970s, designed by Palmiro Monti, then President of Eberhard & Co. From this vintage inspiration, the new collection draws its piston push-pieces, characteristic of the era for chronographs, and its two sub-dials at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. It features its date window at 6 o'clock. An orange touch also gives character to the creation on the central hand of the chronograph seconds, in the minute counter at 3 o'clock, and on the tachymetric scale surrounding the dial. The automatic version displays a single small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock and its date window at 3 o'clock. The collection is available exclusively on an integrated steel bracelet that confers a very sporty-chic modernity with its alternating polished and satin finishes.

Official Timekeeper of Italian Vintage Cars

Recognized for its expertise in chronographs and with strong historical ties to Italy—which still represents nearly 40% of its revenue—Eberhard & Co. naturally turned to the vintage transalpine car rallies. In May 2025, the brand once again served as the official timekeeper and main sponsor of the “Coppa della Perugina,” a race that has brought together vintage cars on the roads of Umbria in central Italy since 1924, evoking the elegance and charm of yesteryear. The crew of Portoghese-Rubinie, winners of the overall standings at the wheel of a 1967 Fiat 103 P Berlina 1100 R, and the crew of Segale-Devoto, who triumphed in the historical reconstruction aboard a 1933 Aston Martin Le Mans, were rewarded with prestigious Eberhard & Co. chronographs.

The Vernasca Silver Flag

Similarly, in June 2025, Eberhard & Co was once again the main sponsor and official timekeeper of the famous Vernasca Silver Flag, which hosts a parade of historic automotive masterpieces between the villages of Castell’Arquato and Vernasca. The collector Corrado Lopresto, an ambassador for the brand, also participated in the competition, driving a car of great historical value: the Cisitalia D48, a unique single-seater built in 1948 and driven by the great Tazio Nuvolari in the 1948 Monaco Grand Prix. Eberhard & Co. thus reaffirms its timekeeping expertise and its style evoking the athletic elegance of its fine mechanics.
