Hermès opens a new window on time in 2026. The movement structure appears like a perpetually changing décor within which the eye wanders across the plays on light and shade, between transparency and depth. Through these interstices, each gear plays a part in a miniature stage-setting where function converses with aesthetics. In this theatrical interlude, Hermès transforms the present moment into a show and reveals its mysteries. The art of skeletonisation becomes a language in its own right.
Designed in 2021 by Philippe Delhotal, Creative Director of Hermès Horloger, the Hermès H08 watch pursues its signature style in a style hovering between round and square. On this model, the light, architectural mechanism offers glimpses of otherwise invisible elements, framed by a 39 mm case. Vanishing lines and gear trains guide the gaze to the heart of the new Manufacture Hermès H1978S skeletonised calibre endowed with a 60-hour power reserve.
The interlocking, overlapping components extend an invitation to journey through the structures of time. The bridges and mainplate in PVD-treated titanium with sandblasted and sunburst finishes play with light and reveal the construction of the movement, driven by an oscillating weight picking up the distinctive case shape.
Crafted from satin-brushed titanium with a matt DLC coating, the case exudes a dense, mineral presence, whilst the sunburst satin-brushed ceramic bezel captures the light thanks to its mirror-polished chamfers. Together, they form a palette of contrasting materials in which density and fluidity converse. Moulded from blocks of Super-LumiNova®, the hour-markers intensify the interplay of contrasts, accentuating the graphic nature of this model.
The Hermès H08 Skeleton watch features a woven-effect rubber strap harmoniously complementing the shades of the two models. The blue version is available with a bleu Zanzibar or black strap; while the tone-on-tone grey variation is fitted with a bleu abysse, dune or vert moyen strap.
