The year 2025 marks Seddiqi’s monumental 75th anniversary. What started as a single family-owned boutique in Dubai grew and expanded quickly after becoming the first to represent brands like Rolex and Patek Phillipe in the UAE within its first decade of business. Today, Seddiqi stands as the Middle East’s premiere luxury watch and jewelry retailer and the creator and host of Dubai Watch Week, which takes place every two years in the heart of the city.
For this exciting birthday celebration, we have seen dozens of brands roll out special edition pieces all throughout the year from MB&F to Hublot, Breitling, and Chopard. Now that Dubai Watch Week is upon us, we will be getting even more homage models, and here we have one of the latest to make its debut: the Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB 3SPC in platinum.
Handmade Watchmaking at its Finest
When Ferdinand Berthoud was revived by the Chopard Group in 2015, it quickly became a showcase for handmade watchmaking. In short order, the brand was picking up awards at the GPHG, taking home the best-in-show Aiguille d'Or in 2016 for the FB1, the Chronometry Prize in both 2019 and 2020 for the FB 1R.6-1 and FB 2RE, as well as the Mechanical Watch Exception Prize in 2022 for the FB 2RSM.2-1.
In 2022, the Maison also introduced the Chronomètre FB3 SPC. The model was initially launched in two precious metals, both 18-karat white and pink gold. However, the real beauty was under the hood. The FB-SPC calibre is a COSC-certified chronometer inspired by a pocket watch called the decimal watch No. 26, crafted in 1793 by Louis Berthoud, nephew and successor of Ferdinand Berthoud. This design notably featured a unique cylindrical hairspring, which has since become a signature of the brand and went on to secure yet another GPHG award for the Maison in 2023 with the Chronometry Prize. Today, this design evolves with the limited edition 75th Anniversary of Ahmed Seddiqi Chronomètre FB 3SPC in platinum.
The Limited Edition 75th Anniversary of Ahmed Seddiqi Chronomètre FB 3SPC
Like the original, the new limited edition 75th Anniversary of Ahmed Seddiqi Chronomètre FB 3SPC is the first and only wristwatch with a variable-inertia balance and a cylindrical balance-spring to be officially chronometer-certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). With the three main escapement components the balance, the pallet-lever, and the escapement wheel positioned at 9 o’clock, you can see the cylindrical balance-spring beating throughout the three days of the power reserve.
This commemorative model features exclusive finishings of both the movement and the dial, celebrating not only 75 years of Seddiqi but also 10 years since the Maison’s revival. The design combines a 42mm platinum case with a peripheral inner-bezel ring in velvet-finished black lacquered brass, whose engraved minute track and Arabic numerals are highlighted in gold. The bridges and mainplate are sandblasted with a champagne color, and this subtle contrast ensures perfect legibility thanks to the 18-karat yellow gold hands. The caseback features an exclusive sandblasted decoration showcasing the “75” logo designed by Ahmed Seddiqi to celebrate their anniversary engraved on the sapphire crystal. This exceptional model is produced in an extremely limited run of just three pieces with pricing available upon request.
