15 June 1935 – Firenze Mare Motorway: Tazio Nuvolari is determined to beat the world speed record. Although the weather conditions are highly unfavourable due to strong winds, Tazio does not want to give up. The decision almost costs him dear when a particularly strong gust hits the vehicle driving at over 300 km/h, throwing it into such a violent skid that it is only the champion's skill that allows him to bring it back under control. With typical determination, the flying Mantuan perseveres: by the end of that incredible day he will succeed in this daring endeavour, becoming the fastest man in the world. He sets a new record of a kilometre in 11 seconds and a mile in 17 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 336 km/h.
In 2015, drawing inspiration from this famous episode, Eberhard & Co. unveils the Tazio Nuvolari 336 Limited Edition.
For the first time the Tazio Nuvolari collection includes a timepiece that offers the reading of two different time zones The watch, produced in a limited edition of 336 pieces, is animated by a mechanical automatic winding movement. The second time zone is displayed at 12 o’clock, while at 6 o’clock there is the indication of the power reserve. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. The movement is housed in a 45 mm case, waterproof to a depth of 100 metres, which, together with several red details, gives the Tazio Nuvolari 336 a striking look.
The great champion's presence is transmitted by the symbolic number 336, the driver's signature and the initials 'TN' within the carapace, the emblem of Tazio Nuvolari. The watch is notable for its raw-cut ceramic bezel, particularly thick at a side view: the result is a pleasing three‐dimensional effect enriched by hollowed hourmarkers. The Dual Time function is regulated at the 10 o’clock position through a button characterized by an elongated shape and embellished with the driver’s initials.
The Tazio Nuvolari 336 Limited Edition comes with a black alligator strap with red stitching, completed by a buckle engraved with “E&Co.”.
