Audemars Piguet is continuing this year with the use of "frosted gold", an ancient Florentine jewellery technique consisting of hammering gold with a diamond-tipped tool. The tiny impacts created on the surface of gold sparkle in the light like precious stones or diamond dust.
The frosted 18-carat white gold case and bracelet of the new Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding Chronograph 41mm, finished with polished chamfers, enhance the deep purple of the “Grande Tapisserie” dial. The rhodium-toned counters, gold applied hourmarkers and luminescent hands also illuminate the colour of the dial.
Equipped with a screw-down crown and water-resistant to 50 meters, the watch uses the self-winding mechanical movement Calibre 2385 to power the chronograph functions as well as the hours, minutes, small second and date. Oscillating at the frequency of 3 Hz, or 21,600 vph, it ensures the watch with a minimum autonomy of 40 hours.
The Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding Chronograph 41mm is a boutique exclusive and limited edition of 200.
