Focus on the Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365

When he patented his invention on June 26th 1801, or 7 Messidor year IX according to the Republican calendar in force in post-Revolutionary France, Abraham-Louis Breguet was probably far from suspecting that the tourbillon would become such a legend. A legend that is still very much alive, since – 200 years after its invention – this complication that defies the laws of gravity still makes our heads spin. At Breguet, the tourbillon continues its revolution, majestically placed at the heart of the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365. Presented in an edition of 35 – a reference to the number of tourbillon watches made by Breguet’s founder during his lifetime – this anniversary edition features multiple references to history. On the front, the lower bridge of the tourbillon visible through the sapphire caseback is finely engraved with the inscription “Patent No. 57 of 7 Messidor year IX” while the barrel features an engraving “Anniversaire 1801-2021”. On the face of the 41mm rose gold case, the gold dial is hand-guilloché with a Clous de Paris hobnail pattern, highlighting another of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s cherished skills. More than two centuries later, his soul still reigns over the creations of the brand that bears his name.
